Life coaching is non-judgmental.
Life coaching embraces where you are right now and moves you powerfully forward with passion, purpose and a plan to a place you want to be with MUCH greater impact and velocity than could be achieved on ones own.
The Origins of Life Coaching
Life coaching in its truest sense has been around for a very long time as it is based on the eternal belief best stated by Shakespeare, ‘to thine own self be true.’ Life coaching is based on your personal truth.

In the fourth century B.C. Plato’s ‘Dialogues’ directed us towards an inner journey to find truth and make sense of the world. Even earlier than that, in final defense of his life Socrates is to have said,
“Gentlemen, I am your grateful and devoted servant, but I owe a greater obedience to God than to you, and as long as I draw breath and have my faculties I shall never stop practicing philosophy.”
Socrates had interpreted the Delphic Oracle as singling him out to spur on his fellow Athenians to a greater awareness of their own inner truth. Perhaps he was the original Life Coach! Socrates affirmed he would never stop asking powerful and potent questions of his fellow citizens even if he were forbidden to do so. He added this question,
“Are you now ashamed that you give your attention to acquiring as much money as possible, and similarly with reputation and honor, and give no attention or thought to truth and understanding and perfection of your soul?”
Pretty powerful question huh?
Socrates was sentenced to death. Yikes!

The word ‘coach’ has been used for many years in a sporting context within the United States. An American sports coach might coach individual players and/or teams to sporting victories. For example, an American Football coach might whip his team into shape, offer plans and strategic moves, focus individual and team resolve, cheer his team on with motivating speeches of glory.
In the last decade the word ‘coaching’ has become more popular in business and organizational development. Usually working with people in senior positions, this ‘executive coaching’ has enjoyed huge success in terms of promoting business excellence, honing personal and professional skills and talents towards a given desired outcome.
More recently the desire for personal development and self-improvement has exploded. Have you been in a book store recently and browsed the best-sellers list? The self-improvement section is huge and well represented. Simply put, people are yearning to be happy and content in their lives. They watch Oprah. They want to reach their full potential. The need is there. And so ‘personal coaching’ through celebrity names such as Tony Robbins, Iyanla Vanzant and Stephen Covey to name a few, has emerged.
The influence of modern psychology of the 40’s and 50’s can also be found in modern day ‘coaching.’ Echoes of Carl Rogers’ client-centered model and Abraham Maslow’s pyramid of hierarchical needs leading to self-actualization resonate in ‘life coaching’ today.
Men particularly feel comfortable with the word ‘coach’ because of their familiarity with the term through the sporting context. A ‘personal trainer’ has become popular in the field of fitness training. People everywhere are
really searching to fulfill their potential in all aspects of their lives.
Life coaching recognizes that professional and personal lives cannot be separated. Life coaching embraces you as a complete and whole individual.
Are you ready to unleash YOUR POTENTIAL POWER? Are you ready to live the life of your dreams? Are you ready for the transformational experience that is ‘Life Coaching?’
